A POPULAR gay karaoke and cabaret venue will be replaced with a gay karaoke and cabaret venue.
Poison Ivy in St James’s Street, Brighton, closed its doors for the final time earlier this month after five years.
But fans of the venue have not had to wait long for its replacement.
Builders moved in to the premises straight away and tomorrow, Priscilla’s will open with a bubbles and canapes reception from 9pm.
The venue will still be run by Poison Ivy boss Lee Cockshott with a karaoke on most evenings and cabaret at weekends.
It will be open between 6pm and midnight Mondays to Thursdays and from 2pm until midnight Fridays to Sundays.
Mr Cockshott told Gscene magazine: “We are trying to recreate the feel of a typical cabaret bar up north, so all cabaret will be mime and lip synching only, just like in the good old days.”
Poison Ivy closed with a seven-hour party on March 5 and refurbishment work started the next day.
