Rob Hunt is the latest Albion full-back to pick up an injury – during his loan stint at Oldham.

But his current boss hopes the right-back will return quickly after taking a sensible approach to a hamstring problem.

Hunt, the Seagulls prospect sent out to the League One survival scrap to gain experience, limped out of the Latics’ precious 2-1 win at home to Oxford last night just before half-time.

Rob Hunt in action last night before injury struck

Oldham boss John Sheridan has not ruled out a poor playing surface at Boundary Park being a factor in the injury.

He revealed it was Hunt’s decision to call it a night and believes it was the right call.

Sheridan said: “It’s his hamstring. I’m gutted for him.

“He wants to play. He was fit so whether it’s the pitch I don’t know.

“He just felt it and he knows his body better than anyone.

“He came off early and I’m hopeful it’s not too serious.”

Hunt was making his ninth league start for Oldham, and tenth league appearance in all, and has quickly become a key part of Sheridan’s defence.

The Seagulls currently have full-backs Bruno, Sebastien Pocognoli, Gaetan Bong and Sam Adekugbe on the injury list while Liam Rosenior has missed much of the season with an ankle problem.
