POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an attempted robbery.

A man walked into Priory Store in Priory Road, Hastings and pulled down a face mask he had on his head.

He demanded cash from a member of staff but fled empty handed when the panic alarm was activated.

The suspect was wearing a dark coat with a fur trimmed hood, a blue mask and carrying a black bag.

The incident happened at about 9.35pm on Monday.

Police are linking the incident to an attempted robbery which happened shortly afterwards at the junction between Parker Road and Beaconsfield Road.

Detective Constable Cally Fox said: “Three people were approached by a man wearing a dark coat with fur trim and blue material covering his face.

“He demanded money but then left empty-handed in a black Volkswagen with dents and scratches down the side.”
