Former X Factor star Lucy Spraggan was attacked and bitten after her Brighton gig.

The Sheffield artist had played a sold out concert at Concorde 2 on Thursday night.

In the early hours of Friday morning she was with her wife and guitarist when she was attacked by two women in Middle Street.

She said the women pulled clumps of her hair out. She also claims to have been bitten.

She shared images of the aftermath of the attack on Instagram, one which shows her holding a clump of her hair. Her face is covered in bruises and cuts.

Sussex Police confirmed officers had arrested two women from London.

Accompanying the image showing a clump of her hair missing, she wrote: "That's my own hair. Was attacked tonight after the show in Brighton, along with my guitarist and wife. #SussexPolice have been amazing and are pursuing a charge."

She added: "Was attacked tonight after the show in Brighton, along with my guitarist and wife. Sussex Police have been amazing and are pursuing a charge.

"Got a bit of whiplash and a few bruises but we're all good. Be safe out there!"

Her tour manager Ben Price said in a statement: "In the early hours of Friday morning Lucy was attacked outside a bar on Middle Street, Brighton. She suffered cuts and bruises to the face and other injuries including bite lacerations.

"Lucy is recovering well and as planned will be fulfilling her European tour which starts in Amsterdam on Tuesday.

"Lucy has thanked Sussex Police for their help in the matter and their quick work in bringing two women into custody.

"No further comment is available at this stage."

Officers arrested a 26-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman, both from London.

They were arrested on suspicion of assault and have both have been bailed.
