BUS services which serve St Peter's Church will be disrupted over three days this week.

The road is being resurfaced meaning that 17 day and night bus routes using the stop are being diverted.

It will mean increased journey times on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, affecting services 5, 5A, 5B, N5, 21, 22, 24, 25, 25X, N25, 26, 29, 29, 46, 48, 49, 50.

Tuesday, March 21

From 7.30pm until 5am, the bus lanes from North Road to London Road will be closed and buses will not stop at St Peter's Church.

Northbound services that normally serve London Road shops will remain on the A23 and resume normal route from London Road.

Meanwhile services 25, 25X, 28, 29 and N25 will also continue on the A23 up to London Road shops, then turn right onto Oxford Street, left onto Ditchling Road, right onto Union Road and resume the normal route from Lewes Road / Elm Grove.

Southbound Services:

Southbound services 5, 5A, 5B, N5 from Preston Circus will turn left onto Oxford Street and then turn right onto Ditchling Road, before continuing onto the A23 Grand Parade.

They will return to normal from the Old Steine.

Services 21, 22, 24, 26, 46, 48, 49 and 50 from the Open Market will continue on Ditchling Road, onto the A23 Grand Parade before resuming their normal route at the Old Steine.

Services 25, 25X, 28, 29 and N25 southbound from The Level will continue onto the A23 Grand Parade and resume normal route from the Old Steine.

The North Road bus stop will be suspended.

Wednesday, March 22

On Wednesday, March 22 from 7.30pm until 5am, the northbound bus lanes from North Road to London Road will be closed and the southbound will be closed on the junction of Cheapside (York Place). 

Services that normally head northbound and serve London Road Shops will remain on the A23 and resume their normal route from London Road.

25, 25X, 28, 29, N25 won't be affected but London Road buses will not be able to stop at St Peter’s Church.

Southbound services 5, 5A, 5B and N5 will turn left onto Oxford Street and then turn right onto Ditchling Road, they'll turn right onto St Peter's Place and re-join the normal bus lanes.

Services 21, 22, 24, 26, 46, 48, 49 and 50 will continue on Ditchling Road and turn right onto St Peter's Place and re-join the southbound bus lanes.

Southbound services 25, 25X, 28, 29 and N25 southbound from The Level will continue onto the A23 Grand Parade and resume their normal route from the Old Steine.

Friday, March 24

On Friday, March 24 from 9.30am until 4.30pm, the northbound bus lane will be closed and the southbound lane will be closed from Gloucester Place. During this time services will need to observe the following diversion.

Southbound buses from St Peter’s Church bus lane will turn left towards Richmond Place to re-join the southbound traffic in Grand Parade.

Services heading north will need to stay on the A23.

St Peter’s Church northbound and North Road southbound bus stops will not be served during these times.
