IT is said school days are the best days of your life.

The youngsters in today’s Timeout certainly look like they had a ball.

The three school shots on the opposite page all come from the same file. It is dated from the 1960s but the caption does not state which school it is.

We love the main image. The look on the little girl’s face is priceless.

If you look closely you can see she is tucking in to a tub of mixed cut peel.

The young lad to the right in the photo looks a little startled. Do you recognise him or the little girl? Get in touch if you do.

Below the main image on the left are two women handing out bags of something to the children. Presumably that is why we were called down to the school to take photos. Can you make out what they are being given? Perhaps you were at the school and can remember?

We’re sure some of you will be able to remember the two women. For some reason teachers often stay in our memory and these two formidable-looking ladies look like characters.

You certainly wouldn’t see teachers wearing hats like that these days.

Moving away from school, we couldn’t resist but put the far right lower photo in. The two youngsters look adorable dressed up in their Sunday best.

Where are they now? Who are they? We would love to recreate the photo today.

We’re sure many of you will be able to identify the gentleman in the image, top. We believe the photo was taken on Brighton beach. We are not sure if he is a fisherman or just somebody who mends the boats. Get in touch if you recognise him?

Finally, this fantastic shot of the Shepherd and Dog at Fulking also dates from the 1960s.

What a fantastic scene – and thankfully it doesn’t look too different today. With the Downs in the background there are few better locations in Sussex in which to enjoy a pint. Transport buffs among you will have spotted the Southdowns bus in shot. Can anybody tell which model it is?
