A COLLISION involving a van and a power-assisted bike left one man with serious injuries and an air ambulance was called to the scene.

Police were called at 9.36am after reports of a crash in Whitehawk Way, Brighton.

The cyclist suffered serious head injuries and has been taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The air ambulance was sent out at around 10am to assist officers and paramedics on the ground.

The junctions connecting Whitehawk Way with Crossbush Road and Piltdown Road have been closed.
