Injury-hit Gayle has hit 21 goals for leaders Newcastle.
Albion have also been nominated with Saturday's visitors Blackburn Rovers, Millwall, MK Dons, Carlisle and Stevenage for Family Club of the Year and represent the south-east for Community Club of the Year
Liam Rosenior is on a shortlist of three for PFA Player in the Community.
Steve Sidwell had already been shortlisted for Goal of the Year for his 50-yard strike at Bristol City.
The winners will be revealed at the Football League's annual awards in London on April 9.
