A MOTHER launched into an attack on another mum outside a playgroup.

Danielle Clements, 30, said her two year old son Frankie has been left traumatised after he witnessed Rachel Worrall, 44, attack her on the pathway between the Playgroup and Hollingbury Park playground in Ditchling Road, Brighton.

She said Worrall’s daughter held Frankie’s hand as their mothers grappled on the floor.

Danielle said Worrall assaulted her as their two young children stood by and dozens of others made their way to school in the surrounding area.

Worrall has now been given a restraining order banning her from contacting her former friend after being found guilty of assault.

Mother of two Danielle, of Hollingdean said: “This all happened in front of my two year old son. Her daughter held my son’s hand while she hit me.

“It was really shocking

“I was just outside my son’s nursery and she started on me.

“It was at nursery drop off time when there were loads of kids around on their way to school.

“We used to be friends and go for coffees and pick each other’s children up from school.

“I have no idea what even sparked it. “

“Frankie just keeps saying ‘that lady hurt mummy’.

“That’s the thing that is so devastating about it.

“If someone starts on you, you might try and defend yourself but when you’ve got your children with you it floors you.”

Worrall, of Gold Drive, Brighton, initially denied assault but was found guilty by Brighton magistrates and ordered to pay Danielle £125 compensation and banned from contacting her victim.

However Danielle said she felt the punishment was too lenient.

“I think she thinks she’s got away with it,” she said.

“I just want everyone to know what this woman is like.

“Our daughters go to the same school so I have to see her at school drop off.

“Also going to court was really intimidating.”

The Argus tried to contact Worrall for a comment but she did not respond.
