SUPERMARKET staff were last night threatened by a robber believed to be armed with a gun.

Detectives are investigating the incident at the Co-op in Middle Village, Bolnore, at around 9.45pm.

A man went into the shop and approached a staff member while four shoppers were inside. He revealed what looked to be a firearm and demanded to be taken to the manager, a police spokesman said.

The three went into an office and the manager handed over cash from a safe before the attacker left.

Detective sergeant Karrie Bohanna said: "Neither staff members were injured but were very shaken by what happened. We have some CCTV images of the man we believe is responsible. He is white, late 20s, wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up, blue trousers and Nike trainers. He pulled something over his face while he was in the shop.

"There were four other members of the public in the store at the time and we are appealing to them to get in touch. Were you in Co-op around 9.40pm to 9.50pm on Sunday night? You might have information which could help us."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting 1523 of 09/04.
