A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital with multiple fractures following a crash.
The accident happened on the A22 at Whitesmith, Lewes, when a red Yamaha came off the road near Blackberry Farm.
The rider, a 50-year-old man from Willingdon, near Eastbourne, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he is in a stable condition.
The A22 was closed in both directions between its junctions with the B2124 Lewes Road at Golden Cross and Park Lane, near East Hoathly, for several hours following the accident, which happened shortly after 10.30am yesterday.
Diversions were set up and police have thanked motorists whose journeys were disrupted for their patience while the incident was being dealt with.
