POLICE are trying to track down a van driver who witnessed an assault.
The man driving a dark blue painter or decorator’s van is thought to have intervened during a row which escalated in Seaford on Friday, April 7.
At around 6.40pm a man and a woman were arguing. The man grabbed the 18-year-old around her waist from behind and pinched and squeezed her stomach, police said.
The van driver, who is described as white, in his early thirties and with short, dark brown hair, slowed down as he passed to ask if the woman was ok. The man told him to go away, police said.
A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and common assault, and after being interviewed was released on bail until May 2 while enquiries continue.
Detective Constable Chari Lawrence said: "If you were that driver, or if you know who he is, we would be grateful if you could contact us. Anyone else who saw what happened is also asked to contact us.”
