A HAVE-A-GO hero was punched to the floor and kicked several times after chasing a man suspected of an attack.

The 48-year-old victim suffered numerous facial fractures and needed hospital treatment.

The incident began at about 11.30pm on Saturday when a 52-year-old man was assaulted in an unprovoked attack outside a kebab shop in Brighton Road, Worthing.

The man, from Kent, was knocked to the ground and suffered a broken nose.

Two members of the public went to help the injured man and the suspect ran off along Brighton Road.

One of the members of the public chased the suspect into Madeira Drive where the man turned and attacked him.

Detective Constable Mandy Taylor said: "We have spoken to several witnesses and are appealing for more people who might be able to help.

"We are particularly interested in speaking to an ex-doorman who we believe was out that night and possibly witnessed the attack."

The suspect is described as white, 5ft 8in to 5ft 9ins, between 25 and 30 years old and with short brown hair.

He wore a dark coloured top and was very aggressive and shouting.
