Star Sussex signing Vernon Philander has been ruled out for up to three weeks.
He will miss their next Championship match plus the Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.
The South African international is heading home for rest, recovery and rehab after suffering a groin problem on his debut for the county.
Sussex expect him back for the last four Championship matches of his agreed contract, starting against Durham on May 21.
Philander suffered the injury in the first innings of the four-dayer with Kent at Hove.
