ORGANISERS of Together the People have announced this year's edition of the music festival is cancelled.

A statement cited "limited" headline options as the main reason for the decision, with the TTP team admitting they had not "been able to secure the level of artists for TTP 2017 that we believe would do justice to the event and city of Brighton".

Last year's festival was headlined by legendary singer Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and britpop band Suede. 2017's event was scheduled to take place on September 2 and 3 at Preston Park.

The statement, published on Facebook, said: "Instead of pushing ahead and delivering an event that we aren’t happy with, as well as a less engaging program, we have decided that Together the People will take a rest year in 2017. We aim to return in 2018 with a bigger and better event than ever before."

Together the People has been running since 2015, with an estimated 8000 people attending the festival across the weekend in each of the last two years.

Those with tickets to this year's event will recieve an automatic refund via seetickets.com, or by calling into Resident Music record store in the North Laine of Brighton.
