ALMOST half of dogs in Brighton and Hove have a health problem.
Research has shown 46% of dogs in the city are unwell; 27% had anal gland problems and 9% were overweight.
64% of owners did not know poor nutrition is the leading cause of health problems in dogs, according to the research by pet food manufacturer Natures’ Menu.
Feeding dogs a raw food diet, closer to what they might have eaten as wild animals, can improve a pet’s health and wellbeing.
TV Wildlife Expert Chris Packham, said his poodle Scratchy’s health had improved from a raw diet.
He said: I’ve seen a massive difference in Scratchy.
“I would really encourage people to check what they’re feeding their dog and take note of any health issues they might be experiencing - I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending a raw diet to any fellow dog owner.”
