AN ECLECTIC archive of The Argus photographs will be revealed to the public today after 137 years of covering Brighton and Hove and the rest of Sussex’s history.

The launch event at The Grand in King’s Road will give visitors the opportunity to see hundreds of the images on display, with over 30,000 images soon to be made available on our website.

The photographs in the archive were all taken between 1929 and 1992 and the launch event will help raise money for local children’s charity Rockinghorse and The Argus Appeal.

Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “It will be a great day at The Grand.

“Visitors are able to come down and use the computers to look up moments in history that they remember.

“They’ll be able to look at memorable sport events and any times that they, their relatives and friends have been in The Argus.

“Andy Garth and his team at Brighton and Hove Stuff and the team at The Keep have done us all a great service by archiving the pictures so that we can all look at them at the event and through our website afterwards.”

The Argus Photo Archive 1929-1992 Sale and Exhibition opens to visitors between 2pm and 5pm, with opportunities for VIP guests to attend earlier and buy their preferred images.
