WE make no apology for repeating today a photograph we printed earlier this week (see Update column, right, for everything you could ever wish to know about today’s main image).

The rest of the pictures, however, are far more recognisable and should require less reader feedback.

We have Cliff Richard, pictured in a rather prayerful, supplicatory pose.

He seems to be opening his hands to engage with the audience, but where was he and when?

Cliff is the only musician to have had a top ten record in each of five decades, starting with Move It which hit Number Two in the UK charts in 1958.

John Lennon credited Move It as being the first British rock record.

Originally marketed as an English Elvis, Cliff has eschewed a rock and roll lifestyle over the years, not marrying and never wrecking a hotel room – in Sussex or anywhere else.

Elsewhere on the page is Eric Clapton, the hard-living, hard-drinking, hard-partying guitar god whose former lovers included one time French first lady Carla Bruni.

The singer is pictured here in almost total darkness.

The photo was taken at the Brighton Centre in 1992. Do any of you remember that gig?

Was that the last time he performed in Sussex?

Finally, we have stars from the USA – the legendary Barry Manilow, who is still performing to packed arenas, and The Three Degrees, a vocal group originally formed in 1963 in Philadelphia.

Incredibly 15 women have been members over the years, although the group has always been a trio.

We think this photo is from 1979.
