The former Democratic candidate for the President of the United States Bernie Sanders is heading to Brighton in June.

The politician will speak about his new book Our Revolution at a special event as an extension of Brighton Festival. The talk takes place at Brighton Dome on Thursday, June 1, with tickets on sale from Wednesday, May 3.

From a complete unknown, Sanders became an internationally-recognised name during his campaign for the Democratic primary elections. Thirteen million people turned out to vote for him as he emerged as a challenger to Hilary Clinton.

He became the candidate of choice among those disenfranchished with social inquality and the political elite. In Our Revolution, Sanders gives an insight into that campaign, drawing on his experiences from the campaign trail. The book also shares Sanders' ideas for the future, including environmental, economic and social strategies.

He is currently serving his second term in the US Senate after winning re-election in 2012 with 71 percent of the vote. Sanders previously served as mayor of Vermont's largest city for eight years.

Tickets are £15. The event starts at 8.30pm. For more information visit: brightonfestival.org
