WELL today’s the day.

It’s going to be one hell of a party we imagine at The Amex this afternoon when the Albion play Bristol City at 5.30pm.

It’s hard to imagine Albion won’t be champions come about 7pm, whatever the results of the last 24 hours.

What has been most impressive is the way the city – and indeed the county – has taken Albion’s success to heart.

It’s fantastic to be writing stories about how schools have celebrated their success.

It’s been great reporting on fans such as Dorothy Purvis in Ryde Road whose house has been decorated blue and white as a tribute to her beloved team of 50 years.

She said: “I’ve had two husbands.

“Neither of them was remotely interested.

“Five years ago I lost my husband, so I thought, ‘Right, get the paint pot out!’?

“I had a few coppers so I had it painted blue.”

What a great spirit.

Today we have also reported on the Players’ Awards Dinner on Monday night where three very special fans were given awards by the club.

Anna Bingham, of Seagulls TV, who co-presented the awards ceremony alongside match-day presenter Richard Reynolds, said the awards were for “people who have gone that extra mile for this wonderful football club.”

And that’s our point.

The fans at Albion this year – just like any other year – have been truly amazing.

The support and loyalty they have shown has been amazing.

Roll on the Premier League.
