A POOCH who was saved from being put down now needs your help for pioneering surgery.

Little Oscar, a three year old Jack Russell, Patterdale terrier cross, suffers from an incontinence problem which requires him to wear a nappy.

His previous owners, who had spent thousands on vets’ bills, had to give him up with their third child on the way.

They tried to hand him over but were rejected by 15 rescue homes as he was deemed un- rehomable.

Having run out of options, they booked him in to be put down on March 22.

But with just days to go, Emma Lee, who runs Brighton Dog Care, heard of his plight, and rescued him from the needle.

The 23-year-old from Brighton, who runs the dog walking and grooming business, said: “He is such a fantastic dog with so many years ahead of him, I just couldn’t bear to see him put down. I jointly own him with a school friend, Lottie Peters. I have him in the day and she takes him at night and he hangs out with her Pomeranian.”

Oscar was born with two urethras which means he leaks whenever he goes to the toilet.

The condition is incredibly rare and requires pioneering surgery which will cost up to £7,000.

Emma has already raised £1,700 but needs more help. She is holding a fundraising event on Sunday, called Oscar’s Big Walk, and is calling on dog lovers to come and show their support.

They will be meeting at 10.30am at The Big Park in Piddinghoe Avenue, Peacehaven. There will be a cake sale, raffle and, of course, a dog walk.

She said: “We have had some fantastic raffle prizes already and the support we have received has been fantastic. It will be a community event and we hope as many people as possible can come down to help out.”
