THE early life of astronomer Sir Patrick Moore will be explored at a talk.

The event will be held at the West Sussex County Council Record Office, in Orchard Street, Chichester, on June 27 at 7pm.

Sir Patrick, who died in 2012, lived in Selsey and was best known for presenting BBC TV’s The Sky at Night.

The talk will be given by close friend Dr John Mason, principal lecturer at the South Downs Planetarium.

He will go through a collection of notebooks compiled by Sir Patrick, together with memorabilia recovered from his Selsey home.

The notebooks have recently been digitised by staff at the record office and are available to view at the centre.

Tickets cost £8 and can be bought by calling 01243 753602.
