A WOMAN managed to escape an attempted rapist as she traveled home from a party.
On Saturday night a man stopped a woman as she walked along Rope Walk in Littlehampton shortly after 11pm.
He attempted to rape her before walking off in the direction of the swing bridge.
The suspect is described as a white , 5ft 6in, of medium build and aged around 30. He was wearing dark jogging bottoms and is described as having a round face.
Detective Inspector Mandy Lawrence said: "We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, especially those who attended an event at either Littlehampton Golf Club or Littlehampton Yacht Club.
"Anyone who was at either venue on Saturday night should get in touch whether they saw something or not."
Police ask that if you were in the area at the time and witnessed the incident email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1571 of 06/05.
