A WOMAN wanted by police says she is too scared to enter Sussex because she is being stalked.

Police issued an appeal for former Page 3 model Lara Green, 36, saying she had failed to appear in court charged with drink driving.

But she has contacted The Argus claiming she is in fear for her life because she is being stalked.

Miss Green, of Shoreham, said she was living in hiding in fear for her life after being attacked and left unconscious and bleeding in the boot of a car in April last year in Hove.

She said other stalking incidents included her email address and social media being hacked.

She said: “I am out of Sussex because someone tried to kill me.

“I have to stay in hiding, due to someone trying to murder me.

“I was run over and beaten.

“All I know is that I was walking down the street, then I woke up in the back of a car, covered in blood.”

Miss Green said she had not been able to visit Sussex for a year as she is so worried about the risk of being harmed.

She accused Sussex Police of failing to investigate the claims she is being stalked properly and told The Argus she has lodged a complaint against the force.

“Living in fear of a stalker is no fun. I feel standing up to this is the only way to be free from it,” she said.

“My family are unable to go to their jobs because people have read the headlines.

“It was my brother’s birthday and I could not meet my family.

“My poor family are having to deal with the humiliation and shame of this.

“I am so worried. People must think I’m a criminal. It’s like a sick joke.”

Miss Green said: “I wanted to move back to Sussex.

“I now don’t see how I can ever safely walk the streets again, as anyone could pounce. I’m petrified.”

Miss Green added that officers in the force had her email address and could have contacted her if

needed.

Sussex Police issued the public appeal to find Miss Green on their website and social media on Friday, April 28, under the headline “Have you seen wanted woman Lara Green?”.

They said police were looking for her because she had “failed to attend Worthing Magistrates’ Court in December 2016 after being charged with drink driving”.

Court records obtained by The Argus show Miss Green was convicted of drink driving in her absence on December 8 and a warrant for her arrest was issued by the court.

However Sussex Police offered no explanation for why it had taken more than five months to issue the appeal.

The Argus also asked the force, last Thursday, what action it had taken in regard to Miss Green’s assault and stalking allegations.

Sussex Police were instructed by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) to make sure all stalking cases were taken seriously in the wake of the murder of 19-year-old Shana Grice from Portslade.

The IPCC said all police officers should have mandatory training which is regularly updated and the way officers update information on computer databases needed to be “tightened up”.

Sussex Police has so far not made any comment to The Argus on Miss Green’s claims.
