A MUSIC festival will be held on Brighton Palace Pier this weekend.

MusicFest will be staged in Horatio’s Bar and also at the entrance to the pier on Sunday.

The event, organised by Brighton’s singing barber Peter Joannou, is intended to showcase local bands and musicians.

Nine acts ranging from Brighton’s Swing Choir, soprano Sylvia Rota, up and coming acts such as mya-Ray and Mr Joannou himself will be performing.

Tom Baxter, who has written songs covered by the likes of Dame Shirley Bassey and Boyzone, will be headlining.

The free event will be held in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The festival takes place from 2pm to 9pm.
