NINE hundred staff at Domestic and General’s Brighton contact centre have thrown their support behind Rockinghorse children’s charity, raising almost £8,500.

The Brighton team chose to support Rockinghorse as its charity of the year for 2016/2017 and organised a variety of fundraising events to raise £8,453.

Staff took part in Paddle Round the Pier, Santa Dash, summer fundraising fetes, and a host of other activities to raise funds.

Charity chief executive Ryan Heal and head of fundraising Analiese Doctrove joined members of staff from Domestic and General at their office in Queens Square to say thank you.

David Colley, group HR business partner and chair of the charity committee, said: “Having participated in numerous Domestic and General events over the years, it’s great to join the team in Brighton to celebrate another successful year of fundraising activity as we head into the third year of partnership with Rockinghorse.”

During the two-year charity partnership staff have raised more than £15,000 for Rockinghorse.

They have also donated many hours of time to volunteer at fundraising events and the charity’s partner centres, including the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton.

Head of fundraising Analiese Doctrove said: “We are extremely grateful for the continued support from staff at Domestic and General’s Brighton office.

“We are delighted at the amount raised for the second year of our charity partnership.

“Our thanks to the entire team who are all helping us make a huge difference to the lives of sick children in Sussex.”

The charity is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary and aim to raise £500,000 this year through its Sussex Giving for Sussex Children appeal.

Domestic and General’s Brighton team has chosen to support Rockinghorse again in 2017/2018.

Rockinghorse is a Brighton-based charity that has been supporting children in Sussex for 50 years.

It was set up in 1967 by Dr Trevor Mann who recognised there was a real need for additional resources to improve healthcare services for sick children and babies.

Best known as the official fundraising arm of the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital (the Alex) in Brighton, the charity aims to provide £500,000 worth of funding which will be split between 10 children’s centres and paediatric services across Sussex.
