A RAIL operator has been accused by public transport campaigners of “sneaking through” a rise in fares.
Southeastern, which serves parts of East Sussex and Kent and London, is to increase the price of some off-peak tickets by 3.4 per cent from Sunday. Fares usually rise at the beginning of every year.
The Campaign for Better Transport, said raising fares without an official announcement was “appallingly high handed.”
Southeastern said it understand no one liked to see fares increase but sometimes it was necessary to adjust prices.
