MORE than 100 crime fans celebrated the launch of the latest book in the Roy Grace detective series last night.

Peter James marked the publication of his novel Need You Dead, which is out today, with an event at the i360 in Brighton.

The best-selling author picked the venue after it inspired him as the backdrop for a hair-raising climax of a chase scene in the new work.

He said: “I’m always nervous as hell when a new book comes out. It is the moment of truth.

“But so many people are so supportive in Brighton and across Sussex, and that is great to have.”

The 68-year-old, who lives near Henfield, is hosting book signings today from 10am to noon at Sainsbury’s in Hove, then from 12.30pm to 2pm at WH Smiths in Churchill Square.

He will be at Tesco in Shoreham from 3pm until 5pm and 5.30pm until 6.15pm at Waterstone’s in Brighton.

On Friday he will be at Asda in Hollingbury from 10am until noon then 1pm to 2.30pm at Tesco in Lewes and 4pm to 5.30pm at Morrisons in Seaford.
