The Macmillan Longest Golf day is a popular challenge for people looking for a different way to raise money; you play four rounds of golf back to back starting at around 4am finishing at around 8pm.

Local agents David Beaken from Oakley and Nick Williams from Dean & Co took the challenge last year with two friends and raised £2,400 for Macmillan. This year they are taking it on again, joined by another local property person Giles Finney from G&K Heating.

David said: "Writer Mark Twain described golf as "a good walk spoiled" so I wonder what he would make of 72 holes back to back.”

The team are playing at Mid Sussex on 30th June where Manager Lee Andrews has been generous and accommodating allowing them to use the facilities without any charge, meaning they can put what would have spent on green fees towards the challenge.

Nick said: “I’m proud to have been raising money Macmillan for several years and delighted to be taking part in this year’s longest golf day challenge. My mum sadly passed away from cancer and I know first-hand how every penny raised helps everyone affected by it. The support provided by Macmillan is unbelievable and truly invaluable."

David said: "Cancer is a cruel illness that doesn't discriminate and since last year's challenge I have unfortunately known more people affected by it. I have witnessed first-hand the work that Macmillan do and it is truly humbling and a pleasure to raise money for their work."
