A CYCLIST is being treated for a serious head injury in hospital after being hit by a car in the middle of the night.
Commuters this morning found the A22 closed southbound.
Police had closed the carriageway at 3.45am following the collision between the car and the cyclist on the A22 at the junction with Woodwisde Way, Hailsham.
The 47-year-old cyclist was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by ambulance having suffered a serious head injury.
The A22 remained closed southbound from Eagles Roundabout to Woodside Way but reopened at 8.50am.
