VIILAGERS are set to be the envy of their urban counterparts as they receive the latest in broadband technology.
Households in Plaistow near Chichester have been selected to take part in the first commercial pilot of a new technology to increase the speed of fibre broadband over very long phone lines.
About 20 premises in the small rural village will join a pilot scheme to test Long Reach VDSL.
Trials around the country launched last summer and now the village has been selected as one of six new locations picked by BT Openreach to explore how the technology can improve broadband speeds for more homes and businesses across the country.
All eligible Plaistow lines are being transferred to the new technology and, if successful, will remain at the higher speed for the foreseeable future.
