A man was stabbed in a busy city centre street in front of shocked clubbers.
Police were called around 10.15pm to East Street, Brighton, after reports of a man with stab wounds.
According to door staff a man was attacked by a group of three or four men before he was stabbed.
One doorman said he gave first aid to a man stabbed in the back.
He said was taken away in an ambulance.
Police cordoned off the area outside the entrance of Clarendon Mansions, near the junction with King's Road.
