THE UK’S largest beachfront cinema is back this summer.

Brighton’s Big Screen kicks off its seasonal run on Friday, July 28, at 8pm with Kong: Skull Island, starring Samuel L Jackson and Tom Hiddleston.

BBC Radio 6 DJ Gilles Peterson is playing host for the launch party from 11am to 11pm the following day.

The screen will be on the beach, to the east of Brighton Palace Pier, from July 28 to August 26. Ticket prices are from £3.

Children’s favourite Finding Dory is the first of three films being shown on July 31 at 2pm, followed by American drama Sully and Tom Hanks’ classic Castaway.

Comedy hit Mean Girls, which stars Lindsay Lohan, will be the main attraction on August 2.

There are a number of Oscar-winning films on the schedule including the 1990 classic Ghost, which is on August 6.

This year’s best picture winner, Moonlight, is on the following night, August 7.

The critically acclaimed movie chronicles the life of a gay African-American man growing up in Miami,

La La Land, which was infamously wrongly awarded the best picture award at the Oscars, is on August 17.

Investigative journalism hit Spotlight, which won best picture in 2016, is on August 8 at 8pm.

The film details the work that reporters at the Boston Globe newspaper did to uncover the hidden secrets of the Catholic Church.

Ryan Reynolds’s 2016 blockbuster Deadpool, in which he takes on the role of an ex-special forces worker with an alter-ego, is set to be popular. It will be screened on August 9 at 8pm.

The Big Screen will also be showing a number of classics, among them Marty McFly’s time-travelling adventure Back to the Future. The 1985 film is on August 10.

On August 12 there will be a trio of musical films. First you can see John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in Grease at 2pm followed by Mamma Mia and then Dirty Dancing to end the day.

The following day, multiple Oscar-winning tearjerker Titanic will be playing at 5pm.

Fittingly, Brighton’s own Quadrophenia will be the final screening of this summer run. The classic details the rivalry between mods and rockers in 1960s Britain.

The film will be part of a special event from 11am to 11pm on August 26 when some of its stars will be conducting a question and answer session with fans.
