ALBION target Tammy Abraham is preparing for international duty with England’s Young Lions amid a report suggesting he is set to sign for Newcastle.
Abraham was named yesterday in Aidy Boothroyd’s England under-21s squad for the European Championship finals in Poland this month. The Seagulls are vying with Newcastle to borrow the highly-rated Chelsea teenager, who scored 23 goals in the Championship on loan to Bristol City last season.
A report in The Telegraph last night claimed Abraham wants to join the North-East giants and will sign for them before the weekend.
Meanwhile, Abraham’s close friend and former Albion loan signing Fikayo Tomori is a game away from reaching the under-20s World Cup final with England.
The Chelsea defender played the full 90 minutes as Paul Simpson’s prospects beat Mexico 1-0 in the quarter-finals yesterday in South Korea.
England now face Italy in Jeonju on Thursday (midday), their first semi-final appearance since 1993.
The versatile Tomori, 19, made ten appearances this season for Albion, including three starts.
Tomori’s positive experience at the Amex was regarded as a plus point in the Seagulls’ bid to land Abraham.
