THOUSANDS gathered to see their hometown heroes perform at Wild Life festival.

Fatboy Slim and Rag ’n’ Bone Man were two headliners who pulled the crowds in for the two day festival at Shoreham Airport.

Uckfield-born Rag ’n’ Bone Man was on the main stage on Saturday afternoon, pulling in a huge crowd and entertaining with his biggest hit, Human.

Joe Summerfield, from Coldean, Brighton, said: “I came to the first ever Wildlife two years ago.

“It was good back then, but it has really come along since 2015. Rag ’n’ Bone Man was, without doubt, the best live performance I’ve seen here. Sometimes you get disappointed with live acts, but definitely not with him.

“It was brilliant and they have managed to attract some big acts which shows how far the festival has come.”

Rag ’n’ Bone Man told the crowd it was “good to be home” as he performed hits from his award-winning album Human.

Among the big names was Damian Marley, son of reggae legend Bob Marley. He performed on Saturday afternoon with the spirit of his father felt in his performance.

Brighton favourite Fatboy headlined on the Friday and was as popular as ever.

Charlie Tahsin, from Patcham, said: “Fatboy Slim was the main reason I came.

“When I was younger I wanted to be a DJ and he was one of my inspirations.

Charlie, 21, added: “I’ve seen him before and on Friday he was unbelievable. He creates such a good atmosphere and everyone else was loving it as well. It’s good to see local people doing their thing back in their hometown.”

The festival, presented by the acts Disclosure and Rudimental, had plenty to offer its goers, with fairground rides giving people a sky scraping view of the fields.

There was a range of different music on show, with DJs and bands spread across the fields.

For Ashleigh Cosham, from Bevendean, Brighton, the festival was a sociable event for people in Sussex.

Ashleigh, 21, said: “It gives you a chance to see a lot of people you know but don’t always get to see.

“This is the second time I’ve been and seeing so many familiar faces is definitely my favourite thing about it.”
