PEOPLE are being warned to take care and watch out for elderly neighbours as a heatwave warning is issued for Sussex.

The Met Office is forecasting hot and humid weather for the county over the next three days.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 27C in Brighton and Hove on Monday.

South East Coast Ambulance Service is urging people take appropriate measures to stay safe in the sun.

As well as problems such as sunburn or heatstroke, the hot weather can seriously affect people with long-term conditions such as heart problems or high blood pressure.

Ambulance head of resilience Andy Cashman said: “Of course, we want people to be out enjoying the fine weather but we’re also urging them use their common sense, cover up use sun cream and drink plenty of water.”
