ONE of Sussex’s most beautiful windmills will feature on a new stamp.
Nutley Windmill, near Uckfield, is one of six to feature on the special Royal Mail collection.
On sale now, the stamps pay tribute to the contribution windmills and watermills have made to the industrialisation of the UK.
The first windmills date from the 12th century and had become widespread throughout Britain by the end of the 13th century.
As well as Nutley the set includes New Abbey Corn Mill, Dumfries and Galloway; Ballycopeland Windmill, County Down, Northern Ireland; Cheddleton Flint Mill, Staffordshire; Woodchurch Windmill, near Ashford, Kent and Felin Cochwillan Mill, Gwynedd.
Royal Mail will provide a special handstamp on mail posted in a postbox closest to where the windmill or watermill is located.
