THE i360 has been named as one of the UK’s best new buildings.
The structure was handed a Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) awards last night.
A total of 49 winners were selected as the UK’s best new buildings.
As well as the 162-metre observation tower, The Enterprise Centre in Norwich, an ecological office building, and the transformation of Leicester Cathedral, were also recognised.
RIBA president Jane Duncan said: “Congratulations to the clients and their design teams for the extraordinary talent, ambition and enthusiasm that have led to this year’s roll-call of phenomenal buildings.”
Ms Duncan said she was pleased to see “great examples of well designed, sustainable new homes” as the lack of high-quality new housing was an issue in the UK.
