THESE are just some of the stunning images that have already been entered for our One Summer’s Day competition.

We launched earlier this month and the response has been incredible.

As well as fantastic beach scenes and cityscapes, we have shots showing off the South Downs and the region’s wildlife.

The competition is all about a photo which shows what summer means to you, be it a game of cricket on the village green, a bee flying between the flowers or glistening water at the beach.

Allan Hutchings, The Argus picture editor, said the response so far had been amazing.

He said: “We have had some truly wonderful photos and with the great weather, I am not surprised.

“Sussex has looked sublime in the sunshine over the last week and that’s what is coming across in the entries.

“If you think you can do better then get in touch. I can’t wait to look through many more stunning shots.”

Last year we asked for entries to have been taken on the longest day of the year.

But this time round we have relaxed the rules and we’re allowing entries up until Friday, August 11.

There will be first, second and third place prizes for adults and a junior prize for those under 16.

Argus editor Arron Hendy said: “It’s not always about having the latest fancy equipment either.

“We know some of the best pictures can be snapped on a phone just to capture the moment.

“We have got a great bunch of readers who always respond fantastically to One Summer’s Day so we are really looking forward to seeing what you take this year.

“Whether you are out on a walk, camping or just looking out of your window, why not give it a shot?”

Pictures should be sent by email to onesummersday@theargus.co.uk. All entries need to be medium-sized jpeg files, no GIF, PNG or TIFF files.
