CONNA Powles - buying director at Haskins Garden Centre - will be attempting a wing walk to raise money for Greenfingers charity on Sunday.

The charity is dedicated to supporting children who use hospices around the UK along with their families.

It also creates outdoor spaces to aid therapeutic rest and relaxation at hospices.

Ms Powles is flying high having smashed her initial fundraising target of £1,000.

She said: “Thanks to the generosity of friends, family and colleagues I have so far raised £3.454.69 and I’m hoping for further donations to come through.

“I like to complete a challenge or host an event every year for a cancer charity, having lost my brother recently and my sister is in remission.

“To date I’ve completed a parachute jump, an abseil and The Moonwalk and I now just need to tick off wing walking.

“After watching a video about the benefits children and families get from having a beautiful space to go to, Greenfingers seemed the obvious choice to support.”

This year Haskins also raised an additional £3,000 from donations and raffle and £2,945 from the sales of plastic carrier bags.
