WITNESSES of a knife-point robbery at a Betfred bookmakers are being asked to come forward as police have release images of the suspect.

At 9.20pm on Tuesday, June 20, a man entered the store in Hollingbury Place, Brighton, and threatened staff with a knife, before making off with a quantity of cash.

Following the incident the offender ran from the shop in the direction of Dudley Road.

Detective constable Tom Coll, of Brighton Investigations, said: “Although the attacker’s face was covered, I’m hoping someone will be able to recognise the clothing and help identify him.

"During the attack, the offender threatened a female member of staff who was merely going about her work.

"This was clearly very frightening for staff at the shop and I would ask anyone with information to contact us.”

Residents living nearby have spoken of their shock after hearing about the attack, but police conitue to investigate the crime and are looking for more witnesses to come forward. 

He is described as a short, skinny man in his early 20s with dark hair.

He was wearing dark coloured clothing, had tights covering his face and was in possession of a black rucksack.
