THE family of a woman who died in a crash on the A26 last Monday (July 3) have paid tribute to a “loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother”.

Barbara Woodhams, 91, died at the scene between Uckfield and Crowborough when the Volkswagen Eos car she was a passenger in was involved in a three vehicle smash shortly after midday.

She leaves two children, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a brother and sister.

Her children, Jim Westrop and Jennifer Brown, said: “Mum lived life to the full and had a wide circle of friends in Uckfield and around her new home in Crowborough, where she moved to a couple of years ago.

“She also spent 25 years in Ireland.

“Probably her greatest claim to fame is that we can trace her maternal ancestry right back to William the Conqueror.

“Somewhere along the line, any claim to the throne has disappeared, but she will always be our Queen Mum.”
