A motorcyclist had to be airlifted to hospital after crashing into a deer.
Police said a 49-year-old man from Crawley was riding his Honda Firebrand in High Beeches Lane, Handcross, when he smashed into the deer.
The rider was airlifted to the New East Surrey Hospital with serious injuries and police are appealing for witnesses to the crash.
The Argus revealed yesterday that more than 300 road accidents were caused last year by vehicles colliding with deer on Sussex roads.
New signs have been installed by East Sussex County Council warning drivers to be on their guard.
Police are asking witnesses to call 0845 6070999.
