GOGGLEBOX star Chris Steed has told how he was a “blubbering mess” as he tied the knot to his landscape gardener partner Tony Butland.

The pair held the ceremony at The Grand before heading over to the beach for their wedding photos.

Chris is best known for appearing alongside ex-partner Stephen Webb on Channel 4’s Gogglebox.

The pair were dating when the show first aired five years ago and Stephen was there to support his pal for the big day.

Hairdresser Chris, 41, said: “There was so much love in the room - everything went perfectly and I am the happiest man alive.

“From the moment we woke up to when we said goodbye to the last guests in the early hours everyone said they’d never felt such energy at a wedding before.

“Their reaction made it even more special.”

Speaking about Stephen, he said: “We are still incredibly good friends and he summed it all up for me when he said that the whole day was magical.

“He was an usher and also did an amazing reading which made me cry. I was a blubbering mess.”

The happy couple are now on a mini-moon in Sorrento, Italy, before going on a full honeymoon to New Zealand next year.

Each table at the wedding was named after one of Chris and Tony’s favourite divas.

Theirs was the Barbra Streisand table and there were other tables named after gay icons such as Shirley Bassey, Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler and Julie Andrews.

Their first dance was to the Barbra Streisand and Bryan Adams duet I Finally Found Someone.

Their four-tiered wedding cake had miniature models of the happy couple in their wedding suits with their beloved pets.

Chris wore an aqua marine Dolce and Gabbana silk suit with a ivory bow tie while Tony opted for a ivory suit with floral decorations with a deep-red shirt and bow tie.

The couple have been dating for three years and 47-year-old Tony proposed on top of Eiffel Tower in Paris.

The wedding coincided with Pride in London.

Chris said: “It was wonderful that the two days coincide because we were so grateful to all the heroes who have fought so hard for gay rights over the years - enabling us to marry and enjoy such a special wedding.”

Chris had an £8,000 hair transplant with the surgeon Asim Shahmalak from Crown Clinic in Manchesterto look the part for the big day. It was his third hair procedure in the last five years after he started losing his hair in his late teens. Other celebrities to use the climic include the Calum Best, TV doctor Christian Jessen and Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts.
