I READ with incredulity your published opinion by Maria Caulfield Tory MP for Lewes on July 11 with her piteous plea that she wanted to end the pay cap and how terrible it is for “hardworking and deserving nurses”.

These were her imploring words to show how caring she is of their plight.

However the brutal truth is there in black and white – Ms Caulfield voted against the proposal to end the cap when it came up in Parliament.

She does not stand on the side of the nurses at all and will not go against the party line. But that’s a typical Tory MP stance... say one thing to appease the voters but do and mean the opposite.
