A MAN was taken to hospital suffering from the effects of whiplash after a four vehicle crash.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident on the A273 Clayton Hill near Pyecombe Golf Club at 8.30am yesterday.

It involved a grey Toyota RAV4, a green MGZR plus, a black mini cooper, and a green Volvo v40 were involved.

Firefighters freed a 62-year-old man from Brighton, who after treatment by South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

The northbound carriageway was closed for two hours.
