ELDERLY and vulnerable people are being warned to be on their guard against being conned.

Police in Chichester have seen a recent increase in scamming offences in and around the city.

These have involved victims being phoned by fraudsters pretending to be police officers, bank officials or representatives of other seemingly trustworthy organisations.

They provide a convincing reason for people to withdraw a large amount of cash which will then be collected by a courier.

If suspicious, people should call police on 101 quoting Operation Edisto.
