Emily Hennings is an usher for Worthing Theatres

What is your favourite place in Sussex?

My favourite place in Sussex is Chanctonbury, Worthing. I like not keeping to the proper routes and climbing odd trees with my friends.

What do you most love about living in Sussex?

I’ve grown up in Sussex with my mum and younger brother, so I love that it feels like home.

I have been away and lived in London for four years but Sussex is a bit of a security blanket for me.

What advice do you have for your 12 year old self?

If you are inspired by something or someone, even if your friends have no idea what you are talking about, love it anyway. I was also off kilter with any friendship group I was in, so I kept quiet about writers and magazines I liked because they weren’t interested. So read everything and fall in love with everyone that inspires you.

What is your most valued possession?

A guardian angel necklace from my grandma. I feel lost and confused most of the time so I am always happy to believe I am being looked after by something.

What is your biggest regret?

Not listening to my gut instinct about going to university straight after school. I went to one university to do creative writing and hated every minute of it. But then I dropped out after the first year, did my journalism qualification and re-applied to Goldsmiths University and got accepted.

What is your biggest fear?

Being left in the middle of the ocean.

What is your proudest achievement?

Graduating from Goldsmiths University this year. I didn’t think I would ever be lucky enough to get into this university so graduating this year with a 2:1 in Drama and Theatre Arts is something that I’ve used as an excuse to drink lots of champagne to celebrate.

What five people (Living or dead) would you invite to your fantasy dinner party?

Victoria Wood, AA Gill, Nora Ephron, William Burroughs and Dominic WestEmily Hennings is an usher for Worthing Theatres
