SEAFORD Town Council is inviting tenders for the design and build of a concrete skate park located in The Salts Recreation Ground.
The current skate park, with freestanding obstacles/ramps, is no longer fit for purpose according to the town council.
Following a public consultation, the decision was taken to replace it with an impressive new concrete park funded with S106 monies from the Martello Place development and other grants.
The new design will accommodate a wide range of users, including skaters, scooters, inline and BMXers and as many abilities as possible.
It will encompass a circuit with good flow, some unique terrain and offer many of the expected features of a great skate park including:
- Street elements of differing heights to allow for different abilities and progression
- Snake run/transition elements/burns/humps/banks as part of the circuit
- Small but whippy transitions
- Small but challenging features
- Standalone quarter pipe
- Pyramid hip.
Leanne Lange, resident and owner of The Hair Lounge, said, ‘My sons use the skate park on an almost daily basis and will be thrilled to know that a new skate park is to be built over the coming months.
“They’ll welcome the fact that it will provide more challenges and variety than the current park.
“It’s great that Seaford Town Council recognises the importance of this facility to Seaford’s youth.”
