Izzy Brown has signed for the perfect manager and mentor – according to the coach who guided him as a raw Chelsea kid.

Brown is up and running at the Seagulls after completing a season-long move from Stamford Bridge.

Former Chelsea development coach Dermot Drummy, who took a teenage Brown under his wing when the player arrived from West Brom, believes the move to Albion is the right step at the right time.

But he reckons the Seagulls will get most out of him as a No.9.

Drummy, ex-boss of Crawley, told The Argus: “I saw him as a mini Drogba because he had that aggression. Technically he wasn’t the best but he was keen to improve “He could not have a better mentor than Chris Hughton.

“The timing is perfect, When people like Chris talk, you listen, and Izzy will do that.

“He’s like Romelu Lukaku in that he is humble, he is hard-working and he wants to learn.”

Hughton highlighted the flexibility offered by Brown when he spoke after the 3-0 win at Southend.

But Drummy said: “For me, he’s an out-and-out No.9.”
